Corso di preparazione ai concorsi generali dell’UE

The course aims at relaunching European careers as opportunities for young graduates. The competences acquired during this course are essential to face the competition but can also be used in other contexts since the recruitment process are the same for bodies and agencies at European and international level.

STARTING POINT: In 2017, after one year, the EPSO (European Personnel Selection Office) started again to launch annual tenders for general competitions.

IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD: the EU renovation is needed and it will be possible only by hiring new generations of European young people.

OBJECTIVES: competences and abilities ranging from psychometric tests to transversal skills (the so-called soft skills). The course helps to understand and apply techniques and methodologies for the competition tests.

EXPECTED RESULT: the increase of the percentage of success between the course participants taking part to the competition

Context

The main context (but not the only one) of the IUSE activity is made of young graduates and students: this is also the context of this programme. This specific initiative’s target are young graduates or almost graduates interested in a career in the UE institutions.

Partenership

The course is sponsored by three departments of Law, Economics and Statistics, Culture, Politics and Society of the Università degli studi di Torino.  Furthermore the Institute is recognised by the Farnesina   for the preparation to EPSO competition and it is the only one in Northern Italy.

Financier

The Compagnia di San Paolo funded the 2016 and 2017 editions which allowed affordable registration fees.

Transferibility

Behavioural and transversal skills are essential for evaluating the right candidate for a job. For that reason the course training offers tools which can be used to face recruitment process, interviews, and competition exams even beyond the preparation to the EPSO competition.

Sustainability

IUSE expects this initiative continues to be economically sponsored since that would allow affordable registration fees for young graduates and students. In this way participants would be selected exclusively on the basis of their CVs. As it happened in the past, the course can be organised even without funding but the registration fees increase proportionally.

Innovative character

Unlike other UE competition preparation courses organised in Italy, the IUSE course not only prepares to psychometric tests but also develops transversal skills (the so-called soft skills). Since behavioural and transversal skills are essential for evaluating the right candidate for a job, the training offers the right tools to be used to access the labour market or improve their positions.

Impact

A success average ranges from 4 and 9% according to the number of participants and to the vacancies available. 28.5% of those who participated to the IUSE course succeeded the CBT tests, which is the first step of the competition. In addition to the statistics, the course utility was proved by the positive feedbacks by the former students of the Institute.
