KPMG Lebanon launched a national business case study competition for students from 6 Lebanese Universities (LAU, Balamand, NDU, USEK, LU and LIU). Following a 2-day workshop, students in groups were given a business case to be solved and presented in front of a jury of professionals. The winning group will be sponsored to participate in “KPMG International Case Competition” that will be held in Kuala Lumpur and to compete with groups from around 25 countries.
5 students were nominated from the faculty of Business; Sarah Abi Abdallah (Management), Marina Baaklini (Finance), Julio Rouphael (Finance), Ibrahim Chaiban (Marketing), Maria Souhaid (Marketing). They ranked 2nd among other participating universities and Sarah Abi Abdallah receiving the “Most Impactful Person” Award.

Relevance of the development of initiative in its specific context
The initiative helps students put in practice the theories learned; they help them analyze and provide solutions to real life situations. They understand the value of working in team and making fast decisions with scarcity of information and in a limited time frame. Target population is for the BA students 2nd or 3rd year.
Visibility of the action
The activity was communicated on social media networks pertaining to the faculty. The students received support from their friends and this sets the ground for attracting students for future similar initiatives.
Transferability
By connecting with key national and international companies and having them share a real situation problem with university students for them to propose solutions.
Sustainability
The project has been successfully implemented and USEK participation was remarkable and will certainly partake in similar future endeavors.
To maintain the relationship with KPMG, we also signed a collaboration agreement with KPMG that includes different aspects and we do remain in contact with the key persons involved and inquire about their plans for the upcoming year in order to ensure our active involvement.
